Details

Beschreibung

We start the hike at the Palfries mountain station. The Palfriesbahn cable car takes us up around 1,250 meters in just 12 minutes. The cable car travels over an impressive waterfall (Ragnatscher Bach) and takes us up to the Palfries plateau.

We have chosen the shortest way down to the valley station. It is very steep in places, but not dangerous. As a result of the difference in altitude to be covered, the leg and knee muscles are severely strained. Initially, the descent leads over alpine meadows and through sparse forest; from Hinderspina, the trail continues steeply downhill through sparse forest and along rocky flanks.

Geheimtipp

On the descent, we encounter various alpine flowers and meadow flowers that have become rare on the Hinderspina.

Ausrüstung

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate and hard-wearing clothing in multiple layers, telescopic poles if necessary, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, cell phone, headlamp if necessary, maps

Wegbeschreibung

From the mountain station, we hike in a north-westerly direction to the Palfries mountain inn. There, the mountain trail branches off to the left and initially leads downhill across alpine meadows. After crossing under the cable car road, the semi-developed path leads through sparse forest to the Hinderspina mountain farm. At the hut, we take the path in a south-easterly direction. The steepest section of this descent through the forest and along overgrown rock faces begins. Above Heiligkreuz, the mountain trail joins the Quartirestrasse (Erzweg). We follow the road downhill until we reach a crossroads where Kürschnengasse, Tscherfingergasse and Erzweg come together. Our path continues through Kürschnengasse (turn right) and shortly afterwards keep right or go straight ahead. The path leads past a gravel trap and soon joins a dirt road. Continue right over the bridge over the Reschubach stream, between the barn and the houses and then more or less along the edge of the forest and later along the dry stone wall to the hamlet of Oberragnatsch. We cross the Ragnatsch stream in the forest. Shortly before you reach your destination, you need to pay close attention to the signposts at the large square. In particular, do not take the path over the dam. As we emerge from the forest, we can already see the cable car valley station.
