The crown of the Surselva is an impressive and sometimes challenging circular hike from hut to hut in Graubünden. It connects the seven mountain huts in the Surselva – the Vorderrheintal between Flims and the source of the Rhine at the Oberalp Pass, including the valleys of Vals, Lumnezia and Medel.

Beschreibung

From the Lukmanier Pass, the trail leads over steep Serpetinen into Val Cadlimo. After a short descent into Val Canaria, the path now winds steeply upwards to the Bornengo Pass at 2631m - the watershed on the main Alpine ridge. The descent on the north side takes us through block fields, past colored mountain lakes and hundreds of stone men. The trail continues along the watercourse through pastures to the Piogn Crap gorge.

Maighelshütte «The family-friendly»

The SAC hut in Val Maighels, which is serviced in summer and winter, is enthroned on the sunny slopes of Piz Cavradi on the way to the source of the Rhine and the Four Springs Trail. The open Val Maighels offers a view of the main Alpine ridge with the Piz Borel and the crossings Bornengo and Maighelspass.

Mineral-rich glacial moraines, steep mountain lakes and gurgling mountain streams invite you to adventure, but also to linger. Multi-day hikes lead to Ticino to the Cadlimo hut and on to the Lukmanier Pass. The hut is also an ideal place for bikers coming from the Oberalp Pass or Andermatt for lunch or an overnight stay.

Attention: On high-altitude sections, snowfields are possible until the summer months.

In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.
