NATURAMA-Vortrag: Die Zukunft der Alpenfrische

Climate change has Switzerland firmly in its grip. Since the end of the 19th century, we have been experiencing a warming of around 3 degrees Celsius in the Alpine region. The consequences cannot be overlooked: stronger and longer periods of heat, dwindling glaciers, milder winters with less snow and a significantly higher zero degree line. At the same time, heavier precipitation is increasing, while summer dry periods are becoming more frequent. We are also observing these changes in the Engadine and the Swiss National Park – they pose major challenges for nature and society. In his lecture, Sven Kotlarski goes on a short journey to the causes of climate change and then returns to the Engadine. What will the climate of the future look like? What are the risks and opportunities of climate change and how can we counter it? Are the worst consequences and effects still avoidable?
