Sennis-Rundtour via Castilu

We start the hike at the Palfries mountain station. With the Palfriesbahn, we previously climbed around 1,250 metres in altitude in just 12 minutes. The train takes us over an imposing waterfall (Ragnatscher Bach) and takes us up to the Palfries plateau.

The hike starts from the mountain station in the direction of the Palfries mountain inn. Afterwards, the path leads us over the dirt road to the Stralrüfi mountain restaurant. Afterwards it goes comfortably over the alpine meadow to Alp Castilu. From here we continue on the dirt road in the direction of Schwamm to the former Kurhaus Sennis.

The shuttle bus is available for the half-hour return journey to the cable car valley station. Departure is at 4.00 p.m. or from the end of September at 3.00 p.m. The ride must be reserved in advance (cable car valley station or directly at the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis).

With a quarter of an hour's detour at Alp Castilu in a southwesterly direction, we reach the "Luegi" viewpoint, which offers a magnificent view of the Seeztal and Lake Walen.

From the mountain station we hike over a length of 500 meters on the asphalted alpine road to the mountain inn Palfries. Immediately after the gravelled parking lot we continue on the dirt road and reach the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi after less than an hour (calculated from the mountain station).  From here it goes over the road leading to Alp Älpeli and from there over the pasture to Alp Castilu. This alp is in turn connected to the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis by a dirt road. The viewpoint "Luegi" offers a magnificent view of the wide mountains, the Seeztal and the Walensee.  From there we continue towards the sponge. At the crossroads we will meet the path over Alp Malun. There we take the path towards Kurhaus Sennis. Arriving at the Kurhaus, a beautiful garden terrace awaits us to linger.
