53 Bernina Route: Stage 4 Pontresina-Surlej

From the village of Pontresina heading towards the station, the summer hiking trail begins behind the parking lot on the left into Val Roseg. Through beautiful larch/Swiss pine forests and flowery meadows, the Restaurant Roseg Glacier is reached, famous for its extensive dessert buffet. The valley opens up, and the view sweeps from Piz Tschierva over to Piz Morteratsch and along the Biancograt up to the imposing Piz Bernina. Next to it, no less imposing, stands Piz Roseg, and in the background, the Sella Group and Piz Glüschaint shine white.

At the Restaurant Roseg Glacier, the path climbs steeply over alpine meadows to Fuorcla Surlej. It is certainly allowed to pause now and then, take a breath, and enjoy the unique view. Surely, at Fuorcla Surlej, it is time for a long rest so the panorama can be deeply imprinted to dream of it at home for a long time.

From Fuorcla Surlej, it is not far to the Corvatsch middle station Murtèl. From there, it goes comfortably by cable car to the stage location Surlej.
