Beschreibung

For experienced trail runners, the AT 54 offers a perfect challenge. With 54.3 kilometers and more than 3,456 meters of elevation gain, it guarantees a high pulse rate. The trail initially follows the same route as the AT 22 but then takes a few sharp climbs up to the Strelapass. A 360° panorama of Arosa is included.

Wegbeschreibung

You start at the Ochsenbühl sports field and walk around the Obersee up to the Seehalde. From there, you reach the Eichhörnliweg via a narrow footpath. Follow this to Maran and turn right after the dairy. On gravel paths, continue uphill to the sand flats and over the Scheidegg to the Brüggerhorn. From here, continue ascending to the Weisshorn, which you cross before descending on the opposite side.

The path leads you past the mountain stations of two chairlifts to the Hörnli. The descent to the Älplisee runs over rocky terrain. Slightly above the Schwellisee and past the Alpenblick restaurant, you reach the valley station of the Carmenna chairlift. Shortly afterward, you walk through the forest above the Tschuggen Grand Hotel, then descend again at the Scheitenböden to the post office.

Across Alteinplatz, continue straight and follow a narrow path to the dam of the Isel reservoir. Along the shore, hike to the Furggatobelbach where you make a U-turn and zigzag through the Furggawald forest. Once you leave the tree line behind, the path leads steeply along a scree slope up to the Maienfelderfurgga.

Here, turn left and hike over the Tiejer Fürggli and the Schwifurgga to the Chörbsch Horn. Along the ridge, continue over Vorder Latschüel up to the Strelapass and along the Hauptertällibach to Jatz. Via Medergen, start the return route which takes you through the Tiejerwald back to the reservoir and finally up to the sports field.
