Berge und Sonne: Das Lebenselixier Giovanni Segantini
Beschreibung
Mountains and Sun: The Lifeblood of Giovanni Segantini (1858 – 1899) At just 41 years old, the widely celebrated landscape painter Giovanni Segantini died on the Schafberg in the Engadin. Thus, his Alpine triptych, which we can now regard as his artistic legacy, remained unfinished. Executed in the style of Divisionism, which he had developed since 1886, the three large paintings along with the yet-to-be-completed accompanying lunettes reveal Segantini's concept of the human life cycle. In the lecture, we will discuss his most important paintings and trace his biography. Reto Bonifazi, art historian & Germanist
