Beschreibung
Only the name Neu-Sins appears in medieval documents. "Canova" = new house, appears to be a later Romanisation. The castle, which was probably built by the lords of Vaz in the second half of the 13th century and inhabited by ministerials, shared the fate of Old Sins until it fell into disrepair. In 1574, Andreas von Salis zu Rietberg acquired the Canova estate and subsequently also called himself "zu Neusins". / Today, half of the four-storey residential tower, which was covered with a tent roof and crowned with battlements, still exists. There are barns in the two residential storeys, as well as the remains of a fireplace and stove. To the west of the tower is a square cistern built into the rocky ground. / AccessThe ruins are located on private land and are not accessible to the public. The site is visible from the Domleschg Castle Trail.
