Hüttenweg Chamanna Cluozza (oua_20336121_7ddaa6d_profile)
The path leads into the “original core” of the Swiss National Park, the Val Cluozza, which has been protected since 1909. The Chamanna Cluozza is the only hut in the park area where you can stay overnight. Here you literally feel at the pulse of nature. A unique experience.

Beschreibung

The hike to Chamanna Cluozza is one of the classics among the routes in the National Park. Highlights on the way include the deep view into the Cluozza Gorge, chamois, deer, the panorama, and at the destination the Chamanna Cluozza itself. Originally built as a home for the first park warden, the hut today offers space for 63 people. Far from any human influence, staying overnight in the magnificent accommodation, which is comparable in standard to a SAC hut, is very inviting. Early reservation is definitely recommended (online at www.cluozza.ch)! A hike to Chamanna Cluozza can be combined with a climb of Piz Quattervals, a route over Murtersattel to the Ofen Pass road at the PostAuto stop Vallun Chafuol/P3, or via Fuorcla Val Sassa into Val Trupchun (see corresponding routes).

Note: Dogs are not allowed in the Swiss National Park, not even on a leash. More information and all protection regulations can be found at nationalpark.ch/schutzbestimmungen.

Geheimtipp

On hot days, the midday hours should be avoided for the ascent. The area around “Il Pra” must be avoided during thunderstorms.

Sicherheitshinweis

Mountain hike (white-red-white). The well-developed path leads through steep valley slopes that require sure-footedness and no fear of heights.

Wegbeschreibung

From Zernez train station (1474 m a.s.l.) through the village eastwards towards Ofenpass and over the covered wooden bridge across the Spöl. From here two variants: The western path follows a section of paved road onto a field path towards the forest, turns sharply east and then gradually ascends. The eastern path goes along a cart track through meadows into a larch forest, rises steeply and finally meets the above-mentioned field path. From here continue east to the Sarasinstein located at the edge of the Cluozza Gorge, dedicated to one of the founding figures of the Swiss National Park. The path ascends in a zigzag pattern to Il Pra. There the junction heads south. The trail follows the partly steep eastern slope of the Murtaröl ridge through extensive stone pine fields. After a small fountain the path reaches the highest point of the route, on a green plateau (2100 m a.s.l.), offering a beautiful view into the Val Cluozza and the southern slopes of the Terza chain. Chamois, deer and ibex are often seen here, especially in the evening light. The path now descends, with some steep sections, and crosses the Il Grass meadow to the Ova da Cluozza, which is crossed by a bridge. Then the path ascends again and reaches the Chamanna Cluozza (1882 m a.s.l.) after 80 vertical meters.
