Beschreibung
The chapel is open daily from 09:00 - 17:00.
The chapel, located on the western edge of the village and dating from 1689, was decorated by two different painters: the Benedictine monk Fridolin Eggert from Disentis created the altarpiece on the left side altar and probably the depiction of Joseph's death on the high altar. The ceiling painting in the choir and the depiction of the seven sorrows of Mary on the choir arch were signed by Jakob Soliva from Trun in 1774.
A special feature is the glazed niche on the left-hand choir wall with its elaborately carved acanthus frame. Behind the glass is Mary with the child, dressed in precious brocade robes.
In 1947, the chapel was badly damaged by fire and had to be restored. At that time, it also received a new organ. In 1979, the organ fell victim to another fire. Generous donations from all over Switzerland made further restoration possible, and in 1995 an unknown donor ensured the purchase of a new organ.
