The chapel is closed.

The Sontga Catrina chapel stands on the Valserstrasse near the junction to Tersnaus. Legend has it that the devil wanted to throw the “Crap dalla Gneida” at the chapel of Sontga Catrina, but apparently missed his target.

It was built in 1759 to replace an older chapel. The small chapel has a two-bay nave and a slightly recessed three-sided choir facing south-east. The altarpiece dates from 1720 and depicts the Madonna with St. Catherine and St. George. It was renovated in 1911 when it was given a tin roof. Over time, the chapel suffered from rising damp and the roof was rusted. In 1990, a complete renovation was carried out during which the chapel was dehumidified.
