Anna Maria was born in 1807 in the high-altitude hamlet of "Inner Glas" on Tschappina. Far away from the stage of world political events, by which her whole life was nevertheless always shaped and influenced. The founding of Switzerland, epidemics, hunger, wars, emigration – all the events of the 19th century also had a very direct impact on Anna Maria's life. A life that no one has documented and that no one has talked about.

The author Christina Schumacher, who grew up in Tschappina, dedicates her second book to the story of Anna Maria, which has probably existed in this or a similar form again and again in the remote areas of the canton of Graubünden. She is an example of the women of her time and class. And that's exactly why it has to be told. Because it is above all one thing: a story of resilience and strength.
