Churfirsten-Weg

The striking 7 Churfirsten are a natural monument of national importance and can be admired particularly impressively on a circumnavigation. The views of the valleys to be crossed are completely different; From Toggenburg they look rather gentle and green overgrown, while seen from the opposite side, they protrude almost vertically and jagged from the Walensee below.

The tour leads through picturesque and diverse landscapes as well as past well-known holiday resorts. From the proud Rhine between Bad Ragaz, Sargans, Buchs and the Principality of Liechtenstein, over the pre-Alpine Toggenburg with the holiday resorts wildhaus, Unterwasser and Alt St.Johann. Continue at the foot of the Churfristenkette down the valley in the direction of Wattwil. The ricken plateau attracts with magnificent views towards the Linth area and Lake Zurich with the rose city of Rapperswil. Starting along the fjord-like Walensee, on the other side of the Churfirsten, almost the entire holiday region Heidiland is crossed. Opposite the Churfirsten is the popular holiday and excursion destination Flumserberg (accessible by gondola with bicycle transport from Unterterzen). At Walenstadt you leave the lake and drive through the Seeztal until the striking Sargans Castle comes into view. Further ahead, the well-known spa town of Bad Ragaz beckons, where a visit to the soothing thermal water of the Tamina Therme promises pure relaxation as the crowning finale of the tour. Opposite Bad Ragaz opens the wide landscape of the Bündner Herrschaft with its sun-drenched slopes, widely known for the traditional viticulture and the Heididorf in Maienfeld.
