Cottage hike Lake Walen

The hut hike at Walensee begins in the tranquil settlement of Walenstadtberg, which can be easily reached by bus from Walenstadt.

On a paved road, the path begins to Alp Tschingla, about four hours away, at 1,528 m above sea level.M. A highlight of the hike is the peace monument «Paxmal», which is located between magnificent flower meadows and pastures. The Swiss artist Karl Bickel dedicated 25 years to the construction of this monument in order to create a place of silence and reflection. A good opportunity for a short breather before the hike to the alp continues. Because soon the path will become increasingly narrow and rocky.

After the overnight stay, there is the opportunity to enjoy an alpine hut breakfast with a view of Lake Walen and the imposing Churfirsten mountain range. Strengthened, you then start the approximately four-hour way back to Walenstadt, which leads through forests, past streams and mountain pastures.
