The village of Cunter (until 1943 German Conters in Oberhalbstein) lies on the right side of the valley along the Julierstrasse at an altitude of almost 1200 m.

Driving from Tiefencastel towards Surses, you’ll be welcomed first by the village Cunter. The village was first documented in 1370. In the middle of the village stands the richly decorated church of San Borromeo.
