Beschreibung

From the year-round inhabited village Cavardiras we hike through shady forests and past Maisensässe uphill.

The hiking trail passes along the upper edge of the Bova Gronda and it is very impressive to look down from here. A massive rockfall caused great devastation in 1689. It destroyed the hamlets of Brulf and Valentin and there were 22 fatalities. The rockfall dammed the Rhine for three hours; fortunately, there was no flood wave.

Soon the forest clears and we continue hiking through alpine rose bushes until we reach the rounded summit of Alp Soliva. The view is fantastic; the glaciers of Oberalpstock and Tödi sparkle. The meadows are covered with flowers, it is quiet and peaceful, only occasionally do we hear the bells of grazing cows.

Downhill, we hike past Alp Soliva, then a shady forest follows and soon we see the houses of Soliva. From Curaglia, the post bus takes us back to Disentis.

Wegbeschreibung

From Disentis station we follow the roads towards Cavardiras. Here begins the forest road to Caischavedra, from where a hiking trail leads to Alp Soliva. At the highest point 2178, we choose the path downhill, passing the alpine hut. Before the forest, we continue hiking in the same direction until Soliva. Below the chapel, the hiking trail leads down to Curaglia.
