Dorfkern Lüen

The village is located on the Chur – Arosa railway line and is the first stop after Chur city. The large village fountain forms the centre of Lüen. Around it, the wooden houses in knitted construction form one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Schanfigg. A mule track led from Lüen to Plessur down to the other side of the valley to Praden. Even today, it is used to drive the alpine cattle to the lush pastures of Alp Urden in the summer months. A spectacle twice, at the end of June and at the end of September. Original hiking trails lead to Lüen from St. Peter-Pagig via Hängebrüggli and Galgenbühl or from Tschiertschen via the Plessur bridge past the Lüen power plant. Clean electricity has been produced in this hydroelectric power plant since 1914.
