Beschreibung

On one hand, you will learn something about their history; on the other, a general section deals with the origin of the Flerden water supply. It is assumed that Flerden was, after Chur, the second Graubünden municipality to realize the construction of a water supply. That was in 1880. 
The fountain route was created on the initiative of the municipality of Flerden. The content was researched and compiled by the former municipal clerk Emil Hänni.


Hiking time: approx. 45 minutes. The free brochure (walking route mini-guide) can be found at the start of the walking route at the Flerden community house (in front of the Kehricht building). The route includes nine stations with topic-related history.

Take exit 21-Thusis-North on the A13. At the roundabout, head towards Heinzenberg. Then follow the signs to Flerden. Plan your journey with the Google route planner.

The youngest Flerdner fountain stands between the new and the old schoolhouse. It was built in 1993 by the Oberstufenschulverband Oberheinzenberg after the construction of the Oberstufenschulhaus of the municipalities flerden, Urmein and Tschappina. In the old schoolhouse there is now the village shop "Fontauna Gemella" with café, the community hall and the municipal chancellery Flerden.

The fountain consists of joined stone slabs, two so-called wheel deflectors and an additional concrete wash trough. The way from the schoolhouse here leads past the former restaurant Gemsli and the "very old" schoolhouse with the coats of arms of the citizens of Flerden. Under the street is the village saw and right next to the fountain the bakery of the municipality.

This fountain on the inside of the cemetery wall was built in memory of Marx Heinz, 1881 – 1937. Marx Heinz was a citizen of Flerden and a teacher in Grosshöchstätten (BE). After the death of Marx Heinz, his Witfrau Dora Heinz had worked in Flerden as Schulgotta. At Christmas, each Flerdner student received a chocolate bear and the school a book from which the teacher could read aloud.

The fountain of Plattas is the oldest fountain in Flerden. It also has an additional washing trough and two stone wheel deflectors to protect the corners from damage. The year 1880 corresponds to the year of construction of the first water supply in the village. In 2017, a comprehensive renovation was carried out by the artist and sculptor Dominik Zehnder from Cazis.

The fountain of Caschneras was built in 1934. Like most other village wells, it also performed various tasks. It was a cattle trough and served the village women at the big "Buchata", the washing day on which the bed linen was cleaned in spring and autumn. In addition, all kinds of agricultural equipment were washed in the additional washing trough.

The large fountain on the village square dates back to 1934. It has two additional wash troughs and a cover for the washwomen. Later, an extension followed, which served the fire brigade as a material depot. Here was also the meeting place of the fire brigade.

Next to the fountain was also the Postbus stop, above the old post office and next to it the restaurant Hossmann / Gufler and the wasch-Haus.
