Beschreibung

Arosa offers you a colorful trip into the fascinating world of flowers from Arosa to the Weisshorn (or vice versa) back to Arosa. Over 100 different flowering plants grow between Arosa village and Weisshorn. One reason for this is the meeting of calcareous and acidic soils. Record-breaking is also the panorama from the Weisshorn, the starting point of the excursion: more than 400 mountain peaks can be seen from here.

Wegbeschreibung

The beginning of the hike is characterized by high alpine habitats, so the plants are correspondingly small. This includes species limited to small areas of Switzerland, such as the Triglav Hawkweed and the Glacier Carnation – both with beautiful flowers. After two kilometers, you transition from calcareous to acidic rock, which is reflected in a changed species composition. From here, tussock grasslands, which host several species of orchids, alternate with colorful mountain avens. At the middle station of the aerial cableway is the Arosa Bearland, where bears from poor conditions are allowed to spend an animal-appropriate retirement. A few hundred meters further, you will find small calcareous fens with marsh trefoil and golden ragwort, before the hiking trail bordered by lush subalpine tall herb meadows leads to Arosa.
