Folds next to the Sardona Hut

The Sardona Hut rests on a rock face of alternating light sandstones and dark clay slates - so-called flysch rocks. Numerous folds can be found in this sequence of layers. The folds always occur in conjunction with overthrusting; together they represent the impressive rock deformation that occurred underground during the formation of the Alps.
