From Schanfigg into the Prättigau (Langwies - Conters)

From the train station Langwies (with the famous Langwies Viaduct) follow the hiking trail "Durannapass". First, it goes steeply up into the village, where a narrow path above the church then runs parallel to the road to a parking lot. You reach the Sapüner Bridge, a beautiful old wooden bridge, where the path turns left.

A wildly romantic gorge path winds uphill along the stream. Soon you see a mighty waterfall. After an hour, the ravine widens into a broad stream bed with inviting spots for picnics. Later, it goes quite steeply uphill to the gravel road, which in winter is used as a ski slope. Gradually ascending, you reach the small Walser mountain village of Strassberg with the eponymous mountain inn Strassberg, where you can also spend the night.

Further towards "Durannapass". Before and after the pass summit, the path leads through a moor area – accordingly, the path is sometimes muddy. You pass meadows full of gentians; on the Durannapass a 5-minute detour to the idyllic Grünsee is worthwhile. The pass summit is an actual crossroads. To the left it goes over the Strassberger Fürggli to the Fideriser Heubergen, to the right over the pilgrimage path to the Parsenn area and to the Gotschnagrat (cable car to Klosters).

Straight ahead it goes to "Conters/Küblis". Before the alpine building Duranna Obersäss, you continue walking downhill on the gravel road. Slightly below the Untersäss at an elevation of 1868 m by the stream, you follow the junction "Conterser Schwendi/Conters" to the right (the small road to Conters via "Plandagorz" is less attractive; however, the old footpath from Birchenbüelen through forest and raised moors is no longer maintained). You pass various alpine buildings such as Conterser Schwendi, Rongg, Stäfischwendi, and Wisli, walk through meadows and forest, and finally follow the Wissbach downhill to Conters.
