Glarus Thrust on the Ringelspitz and Tristelhorn

The Glarus Thrust is recogniseable as a razor-sharp line below the summit cliffs of the Ringelspitz and the Tristelhorn.
Beschreibung
Here it lies at about 3000 m.a.s.l., but was formed inside the earth at a depth of 5-25 km with temperatures of 200-400 degrees Celsius and pressures of up to 5000 bar!
Uplift as a result of the formation of the Alps and continuous erosion brought the now inactive Glarus main overthrust to the earth's surface.
