Stately signs in Vättis were the house of the "Lerchen" bailiff of the Pfäfers monastery, and the presumed castle of the Rhäzüns lordship. For a while, the village was divided between the two lords along the Taminabach, "Vorderbrugg" and "Hinterbrugg". Today's cantonal border in the Kunkelstal ran through the middle of the village, so to speak. To secure the "Hinterbrugg" part of the village, there was probably a small castle in the area near the still known field name Burg, surroundings Rüti at the entrance to the Kunkelstal. Foundation walls of it are still visible.Vättis was and is a junction to the Tamina Valley in the direction of Pfäfers-Valens, the Calfeisen Valley and the Kunkeltal Valley. In addition, there used to be the equally important Guaggis-Salaz-Untervaz connection.
