Beschreibung

Leave the power village of Amden on Walsaweg no. 68, which leads back down towards Lake Walen. Turn left at Hinterbetlis. Several highlights await you at the end of the hamlet of Betlis: To the right is the Betlis chapel in a beautiful panoramic location, while the path to the Seerenbach Falls branches off to the left. This short detour is fascinating, as it leads to a viewing platform where you can admire both the Seerenbach Falls and the Rinquelle spring. The Seerenbach Falls plunge down 600 meters in three stages, with the middle stage being one of the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. The Rin Spring emerges from the rock face slightly to the right and is the outflow of an underground river system. These waterfalls are at their most impressive in spring, when there is the most water. Back on the hiking trail, you cross the deep ravine of the Seerenbach stream on a narrow footbridge, then the hiking trail leads up through the Seerenwald forest, with ever-changing views of Lake Walen and the opposite shore. After approx. 30 minutes, the hiking trail branches off to the right and leads somewhat steeply over a rocky ledge back down to the lakeshore. The trail now continues leisurely through vineyards to Quinten. The well-known wine village of Quinten has a special climate thanks to its southern exposure, and even figs and lemons thrive here. Two restaurants await visitors here, as well as a boat trip that takes you comfortably to the other side of Lake Walen.

Once in Murg, continue along the Walsaweg. The route climbs gently via the village of Quarten to Oberterzen. The Churfirsten peaks, which rise steeply on the other side of Lake Walen, are particularly impressive from here. In Oberterzen, take the panoramic gondola to Flumserberg and enjoy another view of today's route from above.

The second overnight stay is in the popular skiing and hiking area of Flumserberg.

Geheimtipp

A short detour to the shores of Lake Walen is definitely worthwhile with breathtaking views of the Churfirsten.

Ausrüstung

Normal hiking equipment, sturdy mountain boots.
