Beschreibung
The Pizol area is known for its breathtaking panoramic views over the St. Gallen Rhine Valley to Lake Constance. Nowhere else can you enjoy the view as undisturbed as from the highest peaks of the hiking area. The hike to Gamidauerspitz is part of the Pizol summit quartet. The stages Garmil, Gamidauerspitz, Hochwart, and Pizol can all be done independently but also combined as desired.
The well-known turquoise blue Wildsee is embedded in rocky scree, which now only hints at the presence of the former Pizol glacier. In the background, it is flanked by the striking mountain peaks around the Pizol. On this route, we experience the Wildsee and the crater from different angles. There is also an impressive view of the Schottensee, the Schwarzplangg, the Pizol peak, and the Gaffara valley, where up to 600 sheep graze during the summer months.

Wegbeschreibung
The starting point of the route is the Pizolhütte on the Pizol high plateau. With gondola and chair lifts, we travel from Wangs via Furt and Gaffia to the mountain station Pizolhütte. From there, the ascent begins on the first part of the well-known 5-lakes route towards Wildseeluggen. Upon reaching the gap, we enjoy a magnificent view of the Wildsee, the Pizol peak, the Graue Hörner, and the Hochwart. Now we leave the 5-lakes route and follow the white-red-white marked trail to the left along the Wildsee towards Batöni, Weisstannen, Unterlavtina. After a short time, we reach the next junction. Here we follow the path towards Weisstannen. Over the moraines of the former Pizol glacier, we then climb a few meters over rocky terrain to the Lavtinasattel, from which we have a fantastic view towards Lavtina and back to the Wildseeluggen. Now follow the last ascent along the path on the right side until after about 10-15 minutes we arrive at the Hochwart.
For the return journey, we have various combination options:
- Same way back
- Combinations with the summit quartet or the 5-lakes route
