Home Run Davos (oua_38428915_image)

Jakobshorn is the well-known local mountain of Davos. In winter a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts, the mountain offers a unique trail system in summer for trail runners, bikers, and hikers. The local mountain Home Run is ideal for altitude training.

Therefore, the trail was also part of the Swissalpine Irontrail in 2019. During the race, the trail continued further over Brämabüel and Ischalp back to Davos. Here the route is described up to Jakobshorn.

An ideal preparation for the entire summer season.

Beschreibung

The K20 route of the legendary Swissalpine Irontrail can now be used and trained all summer long. The shortened training route from Davos via the Dischma to Jakobshorn is ideal for training or preparation for the race.

Wegbeschreibung

Trail runners start from the Jakobshorn parking lot or at the Davos sports center. From Mattastrasse, after the Hänggis restaurant, turn left up a small path into the Mattawald. Running left, follow the gently ascending trail for 6 km into the Dischma valley. The trail idyllically winds further into the romantic valley, past rushing streams and small alpine huts. A perfect entry before the ascent begins at Teufi.

Over slightly more than 5 km, you reach the highest point of the route, Jakobshorn at 2,569 m above sea level, via the Stillbergalp. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Davos and the surroundings. To enjoy this, a stop at the Sun Peak restaurant is inviting.

From here, you can return to Davos Platz using the Jakobshorn cable car. This allows for active uphill training without the effort of difficult descents. Alternatively, you can also return to Davos via the descending trail. The trail follows the ridge over Brämabüel to Ischalp, where another downhill option is available, or you can continue on the trail through the Mattawald back to Davos.
