Beschreibung
The hike over the Horn is a classic in the Weisstannental valley. From the Unterlavtina Alp, the ascent is quite steep. Alpine anemones accompany us in late spring to the Rappenloch, where the first ibexes in Switzerland were reintroduced in 1911. From the Horn we enjoy the view of the valley and the peaks of the Grauen Hörner with the Pizol. We continue comfortably on the Valtnov plain to the alp of the same name. The alpine path then leads us through rock faces back down into the valley.
Geheimtipp
We keep an eye out for wild animals such as ibex on the circular hike.
Ausrüstung
Day hiking rucksack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate and hard-wearing clothing in multiple layers, telescopic poles if necessary, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, cell phone, headlamp if necessary, maps.
Wegbeschreibung
We start the circular hike in Weisstannen. At the end of the village, follow the signpost towards Batöni. At Alp Unterlavtina, we turn right towards Rappenloch. The path now leads up to Rappenloch and on to the Horn viewpoint at 1,841 m above sea level. Now we hike on the plain to Alp Valtnov. Follow the markings to Vorsiez. From there, the path takes us along the Seez back to Weisstannen.
Anfahrt
Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Take the train to Sargans, continue by bus from Sargans station to the Pizolpark stop and then change to bus 432 to Weisstannen.
Anreise Information
Take the highway exit Sargans/Mels, then follow the signs to Mels/Weisstannen.
