Lüsis Bike No. 475

Starting point of this bike tour is Walenstadt. The historic "garrison town" is located on the eastern shore of Lake Walen and is literally spoiled by the sun due to its location. The first part of the route leads through vineyards and beautifully situated settlements. Already here you can enjoy magnificent views over the Walensee.
After the leisurely start, however, the character of the route changes noticeably. As soon as you dive into the forest, the ascent becomes steeper and now follow 11 hairpin bends, which lead evenly, steadily and steeply to Lüsis. Thanks to the good gravel road and the cooling fir forest, however, the ascent can be mastered well with a bit of fitness.
Finally, the forest clears and the picturesque settlement of Lüsis appears. Right behind it, the Churfirsten rise steeply into the air and far below is the Walensee, which is almost completely overlooked from here. In the mountain inn you can strengthen yourself and enjoy the unique panorama before the rapid descent on the ascent leads back to Walenstadt.
