Beschreibung
First, take the gondola lift to the Maschgenkamm. At 2020 m above sea level, you are greeted by a magnificent view and hike along the high-altitude panoramic trail towards Zigerfurgglen. Continue past Sächserseeli in the direction of Hoch Camatsch. From here you have a magnificent distant view of the Glarus Alps. Continue along a high-level trail to Erdisglumen at 2293 m.a.s.l. This is followed by a descent towards Abendweid, from where the trail then climbs gently but steadily again via Chamm, past several small lakes to Schattenchamm. Now follows the descent from 2235 m.a.s.l. to the upper Murg lakes at 1820 m.a.s.l. Before you tackle the descent to Mornen through the beautiful landscape, you deserve a rest in the cozy Murgsee mountain inn. From the mountain inn it's all downhill. The wild Murg valley has a lot to offer. The lower Murgsee is a true natural paradise and you hike through the most beautiful and largest pine forests in the canton of St. Gallen. Finally, the hike ends in Murg on Lake Walen. If you wish, you can also take the Murg Valley bus from Mornen or Merlen back to Murg or Unterterzen. (Murg valley cab to/from the Merlen or Mornen parking lot, please book in advance on +41 79 735 30 00).
Geheimtipp
Please reserve the Murgsee bus in advance, as there is no cell phone reception in the Murg Valley. Murg can be reached on foot from Merlen in just under 2 hours. With overnight stay in the Murgsee hut and return hike on day 2 via the Mürtschental to Mornen.
Sicherheitshinweis
The descent from the Schattenchamm to the Murgseen lakes is a little steep, but in fog-free weather it is no problem.
