Miralago - Tirano Durch via Valposchiavo talauswärts nach Italien

The hike from Lake Poschiavo across the national border to Tirano combines nature experiences with interesting cultural and historical sites. Thanks to this variety, it is also suitable for children. The valley floor of Valposchiavo is used for agriculture, but is also home to several commercial and industrial companies.

The helical viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway in Brusio is one of the attractions of the route. This landmark of the Bernina line allows trains to make a large difference in height in a confined space and without the use of cogwheels. Along the way there is also a collection of small domes made of natural stone; In the past, dairy products and other perishable goods were kept cool in these crotti.

Afterwards, you pass the Campuscio vineyard, the only place in Valposchiavo where wine is grown. The Romanesque church of Santa Perpetua is already in Italian territory. It offers a beautiful view of Tirano. Here is the pilgrimage church of the Madonna di Tirano.

At the Brusio helical viaduct there is a small garden of Eden. Apple, pear, peach, and other fruit trees thrive here. Fruit is available to the public with the motto "fruits for all".

The starting point is the Miralago railway station. After the slight ascent to Garbella, the route is mostly flat or slightly downhill. The tour ends at the station of the Rhaetian Railway in Tirano. About a third of the route is paved. There are longer stretches of hard surface, in particular between Brusio and Campascio and in Tirano.
