Beschreibung
In the Casa Besta, a stately building that belonged to influential Protestant families from Valtellina and for some decades of the twentieth century the town hall, the ethnographic museum, the historical and municipal archives, the library, and cultural events of various kinds are housed.
What was originally a peasant house, was transformed in the eighteenth century into the home of the Marlianico family. It then passed to the Besta, the Trippi and at the end of the nineteenth century in the hands of the Municipality of Brusio, still the owner of the building. Of these prestigious times testify refined carvings, stuccoes and decorations painted on the ceilings of the interior.
The ethnographic museum tells the story of the village, which smells of tobacco and coffee and is bathed in wine. In fact, it houses sections dedicated to smuggling, tobacco cultivation and the production of Valtellina wine. It also offers a compartment that presents the craft professions of the past and a room with ancient musical instruments.
