The mill near Surin, whose remains of walls are still visible today, was built at the beginning of the 17th century. It consisted of a ground floor with the grinding rooms and an upper floor made of wooden knitted construction with a bedroom and a parlour with a spokesman stove. Research shows that it was in operation from about 1670 to 1941. Grain has been cultivated since the Bronze Age in the climatically suitable Val Lumnezia.
