Beschreibung
While night skiers and tobogganists can enjoy fast descents further down (between Furt and Maienberg), the marked Furt-Gaffia ski slope is accessible to ski tourers. The starting point is Furt, which is easily accessible with the Wangs gondola lift. From there, around 311 meters of ascent await you up to the Mugghütte at 1,833 m above sea level. Once you reach your destination, you will be rewarded with a view of the snow-covered Winterlandschauft and a fabulous sea of lights high above the Rhine Valley. The descent is via the regular piste. The night ski touring piste on the Pizol is the ideal combination of training, nature experience and views.
Geheimtipp
During night skiing and sledging, when the night ski touring piste is accessible, various restaurants are open in the evening on the ford.
Sicherheitshinweis
From 22:00 the piste is closed for safety reasons for piste preparation!
From avalanche level 3, no more tour tickets are sold in Wangs!
Ausrüstung
Touring skis, skins, crampons if necessary, ski poles, ski helmet, avalanche equipment with avalanche transceiver, avalanche probe and avalanche shovel, ski touring rucksack (approx. 30 liters) with avalanche airbag and rain cover, ski touring boots, ski socks, warm and hard-wearing multi-layer clothing, ski touring jacket and trousers, light gloves for the ascent, warm gloves for the descent, hat/headband, ski goggles if necessary, sun and rain cover. Ski goggles, sun and rain protection, headlamp, provisions and drinking water, thermos flask with hot drink, first aid kit, pocket knife, cell phone, maps, bivouac sack and rescue blanket
Wegbeschreibung
We start the tour at Furt, the top station of the Wangs gondola lift. From there we walk uphill on piste 6 (Gaffia - Furt). The Furt-Gaffia chairlift is always on our right, until we cross underneath it and reach the Berghotel Gaffia after a while. We walk around the large stone building and continue up to the Mügghütte.
Anfahrt
Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Take the train to Sargans, continue by post bus to the Wangs bus stop, Pizolbahn directly at the Wangs valley station. From there, take the gondola lift to Furt.
Anreise Information
Take the Sargans highway exit, then follow the signs to the Pizolbahnen valley station.
Parken
Public parking available at the valley station (CHF 5.00/day in winter).
