Hike from Avers-Cröt through the elongated high valley Val Madris and over the Prasignola Pass down to the picturesque mountain village of Soglio in the wildly romantic Bergell.
Details
Beschreibung
The route starts in Avers-Cröt, where it goes into the high valley Val Madris. Along the Madris Rhine, the hike leads through the elongated, primeval, and very sparsely populated high valley. In Sovrána, the ascent begins and leads into the Val da la Prasgnola. An impressive stone slab staircase, built for the summer grazing of cows and cattle from Bergell in Val Madris, leads to the pass crossing at an altitude of 2,724 m above sea level. The upper valley section of Val Madris was developed and used as a settlement area by Bergell in the 14th century.
Shortly after the pass, there are a few exposed, chain-secured sections. Be sure to follow only the white-red-white striped route markings. Warning: There are partly traces of an old route through stonefall-dangerous scree channels.
The long descent mostly proceeds on narrow mountain paths with numerous hairpin bends. After the alpine settlement Läira, it goes down on forest paths to Soglio, where a village rich in history with much Mediterranean flair awaits us.
Geheimtipp
After the hike, be sure to linger in one of the restaurants in Soglio and relax at the end of the day.
Sicherheitshinweis
Good weather conditions are required for this hike, as the path from Pass de la Prasgnola down to Soglio and the white-red-white route markings are often not clearly visible.
