Paxmal, Friedensdenkmal des Künstlers K. Bickel

In 1924, after recovering from a serious illness in the Knoblisbühl lung sanatorium on the Walenstadtberg, the Zurich artist Karl Bickel moved to his adopted home in Schrina-Hochrugg on the Walenstadtberg.
For 25 years he designed his imposing peace monument, the PAXMAL. He also lived in it before building a home for his family. In addition to his work on this motif, he devoted himself in particular to stamp engraving and painting. Karl Bickel died in 1982 at the age of 97.
