At this altitude, the mountain pine dominates. The pioneer plant grows here a maximum of 20 to 25 meters high and is usually only 20 to 35 centimeters thick. Mountain pines can be found in the Albula Valley on very permeable scree heaps on shady slopes together with alpine roses and in rocky, rather sunny locations together with lots of heather herbs.
