Beschreibung

Our route begins at the Oberalp Pass with a short descent to Alp Milez. We follow the well-visible track to the Maighelshütte up to the Plidutscha plain, after which we ascend in short switchbacks to Lake Toma. The short section right before the lake is a bit narrow but manageable if the small valley is well covered with snow. The lake lies under a thick and load-bearing ice and snow cover. It is a magical place even in winter! At the end of the lake, the route continues to the summit. For the summit crossing, we pack the skis on the backpack in the upper section. At the summit cross, there is not much space to sit but plenty of air around us.

Deep below us lies the Maighelshütte, the flag is raised! We look forward to a hearty meal and a warm stove, even if we have to put the skins back on briefly in the valley.

The descent on the east side leaves nothing to be desired.

After the hut, we have two options. Either we glide down the lower part of the descent relaxed on the pass road to Tschamut, or we stay on the right side of the Rhine, where we find more powder slopes. Fortunately, we have allowed enough time for the walk up to the train station!

Ascent variant: To Lai Urlaun below the Maighelshütte and on the east side to Piz Badus. Less demanding - descent on the same side.

Geheimtipp

The restaurant Rheinquelle in Tschamut is unfortunately closed!

Sicherheitshinweis

The crossing of the summit is challenging.

The galleries on the pass road above Tschamut no longer exist. In unfavorable avalanche situations, move to the right side of the river.
