Piz Cam

The Piz Cam is not a particularly high summit, but thanks to its location it offers a very beautiful view of the Engadin lakes, down into Bergell and of the opposite summits of the Albigna and Sciora groups.

The small village of Roticcio stands at the entrance of Val Furcela, a small but very scenic valley. Over the Furcela pass you reach the Val da Cam, a gentle valley hollow between Piz Duan and the less powerful Piz Cam. The last part of the ascent to Piz Cam is off-path.

Wegbeschreibung
We begin the ascent on a small road that leads in hairpin bends over the meadows behind Roticcio. After a short while we meet the footpath climbing in a straight line to the huts of Nambrun (1611 m). The next 300 meters of altitude the path climbs on the pasture of Alp Furcela towards the north, before it crosses the slope at about 1900 m to the west. On a terrain ridge it continues towards the northeast to a large building. Towards the northwest it goes past the fore-summit of the Pizzi di Maroz over a small pass down into Val da Cam.
To climb up Piz Cam, we circumvent the steep spur of rock and grass that protrudes on the left side of the pass. We descend a short distance towards Val da Cam, then ascend more comfortably along the flat ridge that projects to the south. Calmly and with the best panoramic view we proceed at the height of the broad crest, overcome some small saddles, and reach the southern edge of the ridge, thus to the summit of Piz Cam (2633 m, about 1 hour from the pass).
On the way back we have several options. Either we take the same route. Or we follow the hiking trail southwest towards Plan Lo and can then decide whether to descend to Roticcio, Vicosoprano, or Soglio. Or we go northeast and descend through Val Maroz to Casaccia.
