Beschreibung
Above the railway line, walk in the direction of Bugnei. Shortly before Bugnei, you cross the imposing viaduct in Val Bugnei. It is worth making a small turn through the village and the Via Romana to visit the chapel. On the sunny and mostly windless side of the valley, you continue to Mompé Tujetsch, always with a view of the mighty Piz Muraun.
In front of the village, the trail goes down towards the railway station and on to the cantonal road. Now a traffic-free, asphalted road leads to the Rhine, which has already grown into a small river here. The ascent to Mompé Medel, through forest and past pretty mountain pastures, is a bit steep, but the magnificent view of the monastery village compensates for the effort.
At the chapel of St. Valentin, the descent begins back down to the Rhine, on a section of the former Lukmanier mule track, which was already used by the Romans. In Cuflons, the waters squeeze through a gorge and while hiking you get a glimpse of the stream bed with impressive glacier potholes.
At Camping Fontanivas you will find refreshment, either in the restaurant with a cool drink or in the sparkling fresh water of the bathing lake. A final highlight is the stone-lined path that leads to the train station on the edge of the Salapauna.
