Important note: On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the hiking trail through the Rhine Gorge from Ilanz to Chrummwag is closed from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. due to the Transruinaulta event.
A wonderful short circular hike through light deciduous forest with surprising views of the Rhine Gorge and the fascinating rock formations.

Beschreibung
The hike starts at the schoolhouse in Versam. After a few steps, a hiking trail branches off to the right. It leads to a red bench with a magnificent view. From here, a detour to the right to the old quarry is worthwhile, a wooded hill with a magnificent view of the Versam valley with the old and new bridge, the rock road to Bonaduz and the Rhine Gorge. The same way leads back to the bench where a steep little path branches off. It leads into the forest path Islaplanggen, which runs without incline to the Islabord at the viewing platform. Although this platform is not as famous as the Flims platform, it also offers a great view of the gorge landscape. From the platform, follow the road a short distance towards Versam, until a forest road branches off to the left. We follow this through the wonderful deciduous forest back to Versam to the starting point. Along the way, you will be rewarded once again with a beautiful view of the Rhine Gorge.

Sicherheitshinweis
In case of uncertain weather conditions, the hike should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.
Ausrüstung
Good hiking shoes with a good profile or trekking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket/sun protection), drink, possibly food, possibly hiking poles.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
By train to Versam-Safien and by post bus to Versam village.
Or by post bus from Ilanz to Versam village.
Anreise Information
On the A13 via Chur to the Bonaduz exit and drive in the village of Bonadug towards Versam/Safiental. Over the narrow rock road and through the Versamertobel to Versam village.
Parken
Start and finish at Versam schoolhouse: 3 minutes from the post bus stop Versam-Grosshus, few parking spaces available. More parking spaces in the village.
