Safierberg

The hike starts leisurely along the Rabiusa to Z'hinderst in the Safiental. An impressive waterfall plunges down the rock face there. Soon the path ascends and leads in zigzags up to the Safierberg at 2,482 meters altitude. Upon arrival at the pass, the view opens to the mountain world of the Rheinwald. Looking back into the Safiental, the extensive alp meadows can be seen, which stretch over large parts of the Safiental. We are in the area of the Beverin Nature Park, home to the ibex. It is worthwhile to also direct your eyes to the steep rock walls or into the air. With some luck, you can spot a proud ibex or see the eagle gliding through the air.

Now the path leads, sometimes more – sometimes less steeply, down to Stutzalp and further over alpine pastures to Gadastatt. Before reaching the pass village Splügen, the descent becomes steep again.
