Etappe 1: Filzbach – Murgsee, 73.01 Sardona-Welterbe-Weg (oua_22200576_6023fbe_profile)
From the sports mecca of Filzbach at the Walensee lake, the journey takes you high into the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona. Here, impressive geophenomena make it possible to witness the formation of the mountains. Narrow, rocky valleys alternate with spectacular views of the untamed mountain world before you reach the three Murg lakes.

Beschreibung

The starting point of the first stage is Habergschwänd. From here, you have an impressive view of the imposing Churfirsten – a natural monument of national significance. From Habergschwänd to the junction at AlpHummel, there are information boards on a partly newly created hiking trail about geological phenomena in the Sardona World Heritage site. The stage leads up to the Mürtschenfurggel past the so-called Hellloch doline, a large sinkhole formed by the collapse of an underground cavity. Past the Spaneggsee, the route continues up to Mürtschenalp, where various ores were mined in the 1850s. The subsoil here is blood red due to red clay shales from the Verrucano Group. By the way, the fish-rich Murg lakes are a mecca for anglers (permits available locally).
