Scalottas round tour

The route leads from Thusis via Scharans and the Alter Schyn trail to Muldain. The Alte Schyn is a spectacular medieval trade route carved into the rock face high above the Albula gorge.

From Muldain and Lain, fractions of the municipality of Vaz-Obervaz, the route climbs steeply up asphalted or paved mountain roads to Alphütta Fops. The route continues on alpine paths via Alp Nova to Plaun da Bots below the Scalottas summit. A detour to the Piz Scalottas is well worthwhile and offers a magnificent panoramic view before descending again on a flowing trail via the June hut to the Plaun da Bots, where the well-deserved long descent begins. First comes a rough trail down to Alp Parnegl, which requires maximum concentration. The route continues to Terziel, where the actual downhill to the Sils power station begins, which makes mountain bikers' hearts beat faster and compensates for the sweaty exertions of the long ascent. Once you arrive in Sils, it's a relaxed ride back to Thusis station.

Stop off at the rustic Alphütta Fops, which is open in summer, or at the charming June Hütte with its beautiful terrace and breathtaking views.
