Schamserberg Church Circular Route

Exploration of the Schamserberg and its churches on varied roads by bike.
Details
Beschreibung
The route leads through carefully managed cultural landscapes from Zillis up to the mountain village of Lohn, and further over Wergenstein, Casti and Clugin to Andeer and finally back to the starting point Zillis.
The small historic churches of the various villages dominate the view from afar. The exposed locations on heights and ridges each offer a magnificent view down into the Val Schons. Noteworthy is especially the church of Lohn on the upper Schamserberg with its two church towers from different epochs or the idyllically located listed church in Clugin. In Zillis stands the remarkable St. Martin’s Church from the 12th century with its unique painted wooden ceiling.
Variant: At the northern village exit of Andeer, a small detour to Pignia can be made to see the villages on the Schamserberg from the other side of the valley again. From Pignia village, a road leads down to Pignia Bogn, where it goes comfortably along the right side of the Hinterrhein river back to Zillis.
