Segantini 21: Lai Tigiel

Quote from Giovanni Segantini's diary: "However, I spent some summers high [...]. It was here that I studied nature most deeply in its most vivid forms and in its brightest color. It was here that I wrote my first letters about art."

In 1994 he painted the painting "The Evil Mothers" on the plateau. As a result, Segantini is said to have decided to leave Savognin. Bice explains in her short biography: "He had grown tired of the area and was afraid of repeating himself." He took the still unfinished painting "Alpweiden" with him to the Engadine, where he completed it in 1895.
