Details

Beschreibung

We start our route in Segnas above the village, and at first, we occasionally come across skiers since Val Segnas is a popular valley descent. However, after that, only we are on the way as the snow-covered forest road steadily climbs up to the alpine meadows of Run Cunel. A look into the valley tells us that we have already gained some altitude.

But the more strenuous part is yet to come. We ascend on a hiking trail to the alpine pasture Barschaus, a good opportunity for a break before tackling the last section. After the forest, we soon see our goal and are glad that someone has already broken a trail ahead of us. Arriving at the Swiss flag, slightly below the actual summit, we are greeted by a fantastic panorama and watch freeriders from the opposite ski area leaving their tracks on the slopes of Val Segnas. We stay here, even though it is not the actual summit, because further up is a wildlife quiet zone!

The valley hike on our ascent track is relaxing and gives us time to look around longer.

Geheimtipp

We can also descend from Run Cunel via Prau Sura to Mompe Tujetsch and on the winter hiking trail cover the last stretch back to Segnas.

Sicherheitshinweis

The route is basically not avalanche-prone. However, after heavy snowfalls, we recommend studying the avalanche bulletin and under no circumstances leaving the prescribed route. Pay attention to the starting panel in Segnas: the route is marked, but those unfamiliar with the area are advised to print out and carry the topographical map for the route. Endpoint below the summit at the flag. Do not proceed further: wildlife quiet zone

Ausrüstung

Safety equipment conditionally necessary (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)

Wegbeschreibung

From the starting point in Segnas, we follow the signage into Val Segnas, where we turn left onto a forest road. At the height of Run Cunel, the signpost directs us onto a hiking trail up to Barschaus and further over open terrain to the flag below the actual summit.
