726 Sentiero Lagh dal Mat (oua_67508567_4389590_profile)
Less well-known hike into the Val dal Saent in the lower part of the Valposchiavo. It leads across the largest alpine pasture in the valley, through larch forests, up above the tree line and to a mountain pass on the Italian border. About halfway through the tour: the two alpine lakes Lagh da la Regina and Lagh dal Mat.

Beschreibung

Do you know the Lagh da Saoseo in Val da Camp? Then it’s time to discover the Lagh da la Regina and Lagh dal Mat as well. They lie in the somewhat lesser-known valley Val dal Saent, which is bordered by the hill ridge of Piz Combul. These are the two largest of a total of seven lakes that the Ice Age glacier carved out of the rocky ground here. Up to three of the very small lakes, however, dry out completely in summer.

The route starts at Alpe Pescia Bassa, which can be reached from Cavaione by the on-call bus. The path climbs through larches to the clearing of Alp Li Piani. Along the tree line, the first lake of the hike is reached: Lagh dal Mat. This is also the highest point of the route and lies near the Italian border. The next stop is the smaller Lagh da la Regina.

From here, it goes down to the mountain pass Col d’Anzana. The flat crossing offers a fantastic panorama and is also the border line between Switzerland and Italy. It connects the Puschlav with Teglio in the Valtellina. Further below lie the houses of Pescia Alta, the largest alpine pasture in the Puschlav. Through gnarly larch forest and past the Capanna d’Anzana it’s only just under two kilometers back to the starting point.
