The Rhine is long... but today you will only explore a small part of it. The route is ideal for an after-work ride, a short break between appointments, or simply to discover the surroundings.


Along the way, you pass the oldest covered wooden bridge in Graubünden and a historic water-powered smithy. The route is usually well rideable already in spring.

Beschreibung

Shortly after you cross the Rhine, the daily stress drops away. On quiet forest roads, you ride past the small villages of Strada and Schnaus. In Schnaus is an old smithy where the well-known Schnauser ploughs were manufactured until the 1970s. Even the King of Bhutan owns one of them.


After a short, steep ramp and an easy-to-ride singletrail, you cross the Rhine again below Rueun, this time over the oldest covered wooden bridge in the canton of Graubünden.


Then it’s time to cruise and enjoy. In the old town of Ilanz, there is still time for a coffee or a little window shopping.

Geheimtipp

After the smithy in Schnaus, take a brief look at the waterwheel technology by the stream. It used to drive the forge's bellows.
