Beschreibung
In just a few minutes, the chairlift takes participants up to the Alpettli (buy your ticket at the cable car ticket office in Splügen).
Once on the Alpettli, the route leads in a southerly direction along the eastern flank of the Alpettlistock. The trail runs as long as possible at an altitude of around 2,200 m above sea level. This is followed by a descent through a small side valley of around 250 metres in altitude, followed by a counter-ascent of about the same extent.
Then you reach the area above the Berghaus Splügen and the historic customs building. This is where the historic avalanche gallery on the Splügen Pass begins, which was built between 1843 and 1846 according to plans by the engineer Carlo Donegani and served to secure the pass road against avalanches. The route follows the avalanche gallery to the top of the Splügen Pass.
The path then leads in a largely direct line above the pass road down to Montespluga, where the high-altitude pass village offers itself as a stage destination.
