Beschreibung
From Ilanz, the route follows the Vorderrhein through a floodplain of national importance into the heart of the gorge to Versam Station. The Rhine Gorge is characterized by sandstone walls up to 300 metres high. The “Swiss Grand Canyon” offers unforgettable fauna and flora. As there is no continuous hiking trail between Versam-Safien station and Trin station, this section must be covered on the Rhaetian Railway. From Trin station, the route continues on foot. The trail leads along the riverbank to Reichenau, where the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein rivers meet.
Hint
There is no hiking trail between Versam-Safien station and Trin station for nature conservation reasons. This section must either be covered by the Rhaetian Railway or walked in approx. 2.5 hours via Pintrun and Trin Digg.
Geheimtipp
Both a detour to the Alix viewing platform in Valendas and a visit to the Islabord viewing platform in Versam are well worthwhile.

Please note: The Versam-Safien railroad station and Trin railroad station sections are not accessible due to the terrain. And there is no hiking trail for nature conservation reasons. This section must either be covered by the Rhaetian Railway or walked in approx. 2.5 hours via Pintrun and Trin Digg.
The tour should not be undertaken in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes are frequent in the mountains. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in good time.
